Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery and the third largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world, according to the U.S. government. In 2000, Congress passed the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), that provides immigration relief and social services to eligible victims of trafficking.
